Never been sold on max king.
Ben's a gun. Max gets under the ball and relies on long arms and frees. Poor kick too.

For all the fapping on the box, ill take the wright and jones combo thanks
Mate did you see the mark tally in first 50 games?
he is going to be a very very good player.
would love him in just the red and black

Dont dispute he'll be good but i think there's a bit of mayo put on his overall impact to date.

Good mark, great athlete. But the hype is a little over the top for whats been put out so far.

Fair enough
i think if we could land a tall like him we would be much better placed to compete in 2024 and beyond
key position forwards take time

Good to see the boys put together a mostly solid effort against a decent team.

Should have really won by 50+ but I’ll take it!

I actually enjoyed Roaming BT after the game too.
Great to have extended chats with Mass’s fam.
Jake Kelly being a Dad to the young group.
Also showing a Chaplain without a Parish (but all the burgers to himself).

First up. Selection ended up being okay. Guess I am not in the frame for chairman of selectors next week.
There are no excuses for some of the lack of effort this year but with players coming back into full training I suspect the group will start to feel a bit better within themselves and there will be some selection pressure.
Key things this week for me where
Efficiency inside 50 much better. Made a lot more of the opportunities.
Tackles inside 50 well up.
Marks. Contested and non contested.
Work rate. Seemed to be more run from behind and spread at stages.
Not being corridor focused. We seemed to be happy to forward handball or kick along the wings when the Saints zoned the middle. It gave us back a bit more forward momentum footy.
Can not just rest on that effort and fall back again. The bar is set. Need to actually raise it now.

Draper has really improved these last few weeks, clunking marks and kicking goals.

Jones back has been immense for our forward line, suddenly we have two guys to bring the ball to ground and while we may not have natural small forwards we still snagged a few.

Loved Perkins’ game
Jones just crumbs his own balls and goals anyway.

We can still finish 12-10 and make finals! Don't give up!
Ill Be Back Jim Carrey GIF

I know Ham has copped some hate but he played a very under appreciated role last night, along with Guelfi who was rewarded with two majors for himself.

Noticed we were getting much deeper entries at the ground than in previous weeks, this was obviously a result of those half forwards creating space behind them and even marking the ball 45 - 75 out from goal, creating overlap run for the defenders and thus, had shots on goal inside 25.

I know Ham in particular is a very limited player but those 2 - 3 contested marks were great, couple of missed targets by hand wasn't. Is a player who we'll end up upgrading to be more competitive (when is Snelling back?).

Had a few unheralded players last night imho. Phillips did ok when in the thick of things. Laverde and Ridley did reasonably well against the twin towers of Marshall and King.

yeah. Early was killing our momentum with a couple of poor kicks. But grew into the game and really did a good job on the wing.
needs to build on that

For us to be a serious football side, hopefully round 1, 2023 Langford is lining up on the wing instead of Heppel.

Loved what Hep has done for the club over the last decade but the times are moving on. Would love to see him stay around as a leader but as far as being a lock? We probably need to have that chat to him about the direction the football club is going in.

true
if I look at what the future of that side should be
Parish for Ham
Langford for Heppell
Snelling for Guelfi
Reid & Cox probably play KP somewhere (Flip & ?)

Beautifully set up now to snag a bunch of wins in the run home, degrading our draft position to its usual mediocre level and allowing us to get ahead of ourselves.

Good times 😂
We would need probably 5 wins from here to break out of bottom 4. Conveivable but getting confidence in the game plan and not having a knee jerk reaction and sacking the coach are more important than pick 5 vs pick 3.
