Jordan was very quiet early. But had some really good moments in the 3rd and 4th quarter as he grew into the game. Not outstanding by any stretch, but he definitely improved, and I think will take a lot of confidence from getting one over the old team.
I certainly hope ie does come over of course and I like your assessment.
I really do love what Sheldrick brings in contrast to Jordan.
Ultimately competition for spots is great for the team and I have a man crush on Sheldrick.

it does seem a lot of the media "preview" coverage of the swans was based on speculation that grundy was past his best and us signing him had an element of desperation about it, from the club's perspective and grundy's as well ...
i think most media, particularly the mainstream vic footy media, would've been quite startled to see the way he kept building through last night's game and, in the end, how convincingly he beat the league's no.1 ruck
add to that how heeney played in the midfield (without parker, adams and mills) and i'd imagine there'll be some hasty re-evaluation of the sydney team going into the game against collingwood
Two lesser rucks vs one gun and Dossa.
Three talls vs Moore and Maynard.
Bobby Hill vs Harry?
Daicos vs Gulden.
Precision vs Chaos.
Lots of very interesting questions in this game.
I expect it to be close and definitely believe we can win it.

A few sore and tired players after last night. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of changes if some players don't pull up too well.

We need everyone fit & energised against Collingwood because they'll be absolutely pumped up for their flag unfurling.

We get 2 extra days on them , were you one of the ones that wrote us off last week

One of the things that struck me about last night's game is that once you get past Heeney, Grundy and Blakey just how even our performance was. Sure there were errors, given the conditions that was no surprise, and mistakes in judgement, but heads stayed up and everyone continued cracking in.
Yes, the three talls were not as effective as we would like and there will be feedback and lessons to learn but in the end the job got done.
Seven of the top 10 AF scores were Swans.

10 different goal scorers is what you like to see as a team. Effort across the board.

How was the Trent Rivers own goal not paid a free

I was fascinated by Grundy's technique in the centre bounce.

The moment the umpire started the bounce motion, he sprinted staright over to Gawn & blocked him from getting a running leap.

They both jumped from the same side of the ball.

Expect to see the AFL outlaw the technique shortly, as it'll doubtless have Vic clubs whining about it.

no idea, but i was reminded last night how unbearable brian taylor is ... i despise brayshaw but taylor makes him seem reasonable
and then there was the outrage of jude bolton (our own "jb") having to throw back to that lightweight loudmouth "jb"!!!
We really agree on this one

I know there were a few upset about it in the twitter sphere, not sure of their affiliation. They could have been a tad biased.

But from a media perspective it was play on.

We are far too quick to drop Amartey. It was not a good game for him, but it was a tough night for any big forward. Give him another few weeks in the main team before anyone even considers dropping him.
I don't really want to drop him, I just think we should select based on the opposition sometimes, and Wicks coming in would have a greater positive impact I think.

Otherwise, who comes out for Wicks?

I'm sure this'll be popular but Jordon felt like a bit of a spare part with Lloyd, McInerney & Campbell on the wing. He got better as the game went on but I doubt we'd miss him if he wasn't in the team.

I just think that forward half pressure is absolutely non-negotiable, so Wicks has to be in the team.

I'm probably a bit rough on Armatey. But he's nearly 25 & across his career to date averages:

7 disposals
1 goal
<65% ToG

At some point (pretty soon), he needs to start to contribute a bit more than that.

Injuries certainly haven't helped, but I think the jury is still out on whether he's actually AFL standard.

I nodded so hard at this, I did myself a nasty neck injury.

3 weeks.
