Autopsy The King influences Umpires a win over North by 3 points... #jessiewhitesque

Shit way to win, but at the end of the day it was a deserved free kick and we needed some luck to finally go our way somewhere.

Some of our mids had okay games but absolutely smashed in the clearances again today. I have no idea what the answer to that is, but clearly neither do our coaching staff.

Anyway, we got the W and it seemed to mean a lot to the players. Lets hope it's enough of a spark to get some semblence of momentum into our season.

What's going to **** me is that this week the talk will be all about how the punishment doesn't fit the crime rather than they screwed up and nothing wrong was done
Yeah screw that fox news report that it was an 'honest mistake'. No it wasn't. North were on 74 interchanges and they made 2. Nothing honest about it. If the AFL doesn't like 'the look' then scrap the interchange cap.

They screwed up. Clear as day. The fact that no one else has made this mistake in the past simply says its not an honest mistake

He attended one in every three centre bounces when we alwere playing well to close last year, one in four through our first few wins this year and then close to none since our form has completely fallen away.

I don't think he's an amazing midfielder but I think his energy helps get people going in there, and it also makes it harder for the opposition to keep track of who has responsibility for him.

I assume he's playing with an injury because nothing else explains how much his centre bounce attendance went off a cliff.
Turned the game against Richmond by going through the middle too (to go along with his 6 goals). Got his legs taken out I'm a contest the game after and hasn't been the same since.

Here we go, the injury excuse again. If he's injured they won't throw him into the guts. Simple. Opposition don't care about papley hurting them in the mids, they do care about his damage in our fwd 50. He's a small fwd, a poor midfielder who continuously loses his opponent in the centre. He has flashy moments in the mids which mask his inability to perform effective mid play. He doesn't fit into our midfield, if you want an attacking minded mid then you've already got one in warner.
His best game this year involved plenty of going to the centre bounce. it's all well and good to say "he's ineffective in the centre" but his his 6 goal bog game against Richmond involved him playing there a lot, and he played there a lot during a 9 game winning streak that took us to the grand final. You can say "he's bad there" but actually observable reality seems to indicate that he has been able to be very good while regularly going to the centre so you've got to try to explain that.
I'm not trying to excuse his poor form, I'm speculating as to why the team has stopped utilising an apparently effective tactic.

Imo, with the structures we have you could take Melbourne's midfield, and with our coaches they would be bottom 4.

Our midfield, which beat Melbourne and Collingwood last year, has only had one real change, they're a year older. By all accounts our performance is 95% on the coaches, and if there's no attempt to even change how the mids are structured we need to put more pressure on the coaches.

I don't think any cracks have been papered over, if anything they're more apparent than they've been all season, but you can learn just as much from a win as a loss.
Happy it's a win, I don't really care how we get them now. I'm thinking we get 2 more this season.

Is that the only change? Gulden has gone inside, Mills has been thrown around etc, hickey is out, Papley is going through the middle less.

I mean as an average of the year. Even when we've had a full force midfield, or a midfield with Hickey and without Mills, or even when Gulden has been on the wing, at no time has our midfield looked good.

No disagreement from me the midfield has looked awful. But I guess there has been a change, firstly we are bad now so it's worth thinking about what system changes we've made.
