In my view, the AFL would be more worried that the GC drafting Martin would create a trigger for the AFLPA to try and negotiate for more aggressive free agency rules.
And Port wanted the Earth for Wines...We will be fine - a bad deal is a bad deal and I’m glad SOS didn’t sell the farm for Martin who will come for nothing. Papley was never fully in our control.
Agree. Don’t think we should be letting him go and doubt he’d want to head there. I believe the Papley deal will be a straight swap for pick 9. This may get more complicated if the Daniher deal drags on.
I think the term “destination club” is a bit of media hype. We were not miles off in the West Coast (4 goals) and Richmond (28 points) games. We also aren’t the only side to lose by a large margin at Geelong (blown away early but better second half). We are however, a lot better side moving from...
Agree, and even more importantly in this case, as it’s the first time that a free agent in his prime could seek to move to a lower placed club...Wasn’t this the whole reasoning behind introducing it?
I suggest we all keep our focus on what Barass70 and others are telling us over the alleged insights of an un-named “media personality” as per Hawks board. I don’t claim to know much about this but what I have heard aligns perfectly with what our ITK’s are saying.
It has always been difficult to win a flag - I don’t think that the 21st century can be claimed to be harder...To think so unfairly diminishes the efforts of previous champion teams and players.
In the same way, if Longmire goes, the Swans may struggle to convince Papley to stay. Contract or no contract, once players make the signal they want out it’s hard to keep hold of them.
Agree. Full time umpires or not, the key problem is too many "valid" interpretations. My pet hate is the "tried to dispose" rule. If they have no prior opportunity and are held in the tackle then ball it up, but don't encourage the player to just drop the ball.
This why the umpire signals their pathway after a bounce or ball up. De Goey chose to position directly behind the ump and hence should be the one responsible for ensuring he doesn’t make contact. If Walsh hadn’t blocked, he would have allowed De Goey a free run at the ball using the ump as a...
I agree completely. Stocker is a great kid and will be a good long term prospect for us.
He is learning a new role in the backline (played his junior career as a midfielder) and is developing exactly like we would want in his first year.
I can see him becoming a solid inside mid for us once...
