Imagine, if only you had that 1 more day break, you'd win!

Only, football results don't work that way. No mention of this being Carltons 3rd loss from 4 attempts. Outclassed on your own deck to a travelling team.
To be fair to Carlton they’ve blamed every loss on injuries this year, but then you look at the injury sheet and it’s all Z-graders. This time, however, they had some genuine talent missing.

5 day break?! cry me a river Brown - has happened often to Freo this year, and they keep having to fly!
Complaints about the 5 day break are f*cking hilarious given Carlton played at Marvel last week against North and haven’t left Melbourne for a month, while Port were in Adelaide last week (albeit not a huge flight) and were up at GC the week before.

As far as I can tell, Carlton are the only team to be scheduled for a 5 day break all season outside of Thursday matches (where it is unavoidable). The only other scheduled instance is the Bulldogs next Friday (vs Melbourne). Obviously a bit of bad luck this time around to have 4 injuries last week and one in the first quarter tonight too.

But that takes a fair bit away from Port who were very good after half time. Made the adjustments necessary to cover Curnow properly, tackled and pressured a tired opponent and converted their chances down the stretch.

The fixturing is stupid and frustrating in a very close season (mostly because it is so unnecessary - there's a heap of other games that could have been tonight and not required anyone to have a 5 day break), but only one of many AFL stupidities

you cant call that a goal, it never even crossed the line before hitting the post , if the ball had stayed in play it would have been called play on, the fact it hit the post afterwards means that it should have been called as hitting the post
I agree, it's great seeing Carlton lose and all but that decision was wrong. The ball had to have crossed the line before hitting the umpire for it to be a goal. If it did not cross the line and then hit the umpire and then hit the post before crossing the line it is a point.

But sucked in Carlton about time they got the wrong end of a score review, their last 3 games against us were won because of dodgy score reviews

Was an easy call. We went too hard in the first. Lost a runner early for another inside mid.
No tactical sub and no petrol tickets left.
Always thought we'd drop one of Port or Pies games, so just need to make sure we win the Pies one now.
My ladder predictor for the past few weeks has had us finishing 3rd, with Lions moving to 2nd.
Winning against Port and Pies was the only way of keeping 2nd IMO, unless some other results go our way.
Is what it is. Been fun carrying on about the umps though.

Can anyone give a neutral view on how the game played out? Genuinely interested in this game but missed it due to other commitments.
