Don's were rancid but we didn't give them the chance to get any confidence up by giving them a quarter to settle in like we have most of the season.
Parker , Kennedy , Papley much improved from last week. Bell and Wicks did well. Without McLean there was a lot more space between the forwards and it was so much better.
Ruck Jesus is a huge in and I think Ladhams is better than most 2nd rucks going around which will be a factor if we can keep both in the team. Mills is elite should a chance in the Brownlow if he keeps this up.
Goal kicking was ordinary and we could have got a cricket score but we created the chances.
Rowbottom will maybe get a week , Campbell to come back in next week.

Tough game to really get a grasp on Essendon were dire and their pressure was non existent at times made using the corridor a breeze.

Warner accumlated well! best game of his career should of had a couple of goals to but missed his usual 50m bombs.

Franklin was like a midfielder in the first half setting up everything.

21 behinds! bit of a wasted opportunity for much needed % after losing 15% in the last 2 weeks.

Improvement over last week fiasco at least.

Couldn't have said it much better, I like Franklin when he plays like that, it creates more opportunities for the others to score and makes us more unpredictable. Loved Mills' game also.

Apart from hurrying our goal kicking a lot I thought there were some major pluses tonight that might go unremarked.
Hayward had his best game in yonks. Gave some great outlet on the wing and half back, defended, pressured and crumbed well as well as some good positional play. Really noticed his game.
Wicks and Bell definitely upped the forward pressure. Bell a few smashing tackles.
Saw Ugle-Hagan in ressies earlier. Logan must be at least a year ahead. So tough and mobile for a kid. Might need a rest but certainly won't be dropped.
Not one of the best ump performances but far from the worst. #10 had a good game. Spotted a lot of stuff.
Can't say I'd drop anyone on tonight's game. No-one let the side down. JPK is a bit slow but still has a good head on his shoulders.
One thing though is that too often our ruck got the hit out but they came away with the ball. Have to believe that our setup is not quite right.

Bloody happy that Mills is finally blossoming into an elite player. Should be an exciting Brownlow night to see how he'll go. Good performance tonight, could've won by 100+ if we showed a tad bit more composure at ground level in our forward 50.

How bloody good was it to see this bloke back tonight!!

It's unbelievable how we look when he plays - no coincidence that the teams form slump coincided with his injury. Same thing happened last year IIRC.

Parker's sledge was a bit weird tbh, maybe there is some history between the two from when Shiel was at GWS?

yeah, mills is a star
mills, warner, rowbottom and parker ... far too tough for essendon tonight
The long bomb goal of Parker's came from 2 consecutive Warner tackles that just shook the ball loose. Terrorised his oppos. Rowbottom grabbed it and dished to Parker. A thing of great beauty.
